About Me
I am a lifelong resident of Orange County and a fifth-generation native. I was raised on Black Walnut Farm, the same farm where I continue to live today. I am a graduate of Orange County Public Schools, as are my two remarkable children. I recently married my amazing husband and best friend, Jamie Coleman, who is also a lifelong Orange County resident. Through this marriage, I was blessed to add four wonderful children to our family.
I served as the Director of Social Services for Orange County for over seven years before accepting my current position with Fauquier County. I have dedicated my entire life and career to helping others through public service. The Board of Supervisors selected me as the interim District 4 Supervisor in July 2023, and I was subsequently elected by my constituents in November 2023 to complete the remaining two years, serving as the voice for District 4 and all of Orange County.
Those who know me best might describe me as a hard worker but not much of a cook. As a child, I bypassed household and kitchen duties to roam the farm, working closely with my dad and tending to the livestock. I always had multiple jobs on the farm, often messy, difficult, and sometimes even sad. From helping to birth beautiful baby calves to witnessing unforeseen livestock deaths and the disappointment of ruined crops, I quickly learned the ups and downs of farming. Through it all, I loved being hands-on even if it meant getting the worst job on the farm. Growing up on this little farm in Orange County taught me many life lessons, including an appreciation of the beauty of God’s many gifts and how to lean on Him through good times and bad. It also instilled in me a strong work ethic and the ability to notice small details that may indicate what the future holds.
The same holds true for leadership on the Board of Supervisors. I am deeply concerned about the future of our community and work hard to gather facts to better understand the bigger picture. I rely heavily on collaboration and communication with constituents to ensure I make informed decisions that positively impact the citizens of Orange County. As a native who lives and works here, I am keenly aware of the County’s needs. As your District 4 Supervisor over the past two years, I have built upon that foundation by working tirelessly to be your voice and advocate while keeping you informed. You will see this through my active participation in numerous boards and committees, community events, public hearings, town halls, social media posts, personal visits, and various other efforts to stay on top of issues while encouraging public participation.
In addition to my longevity in Orange County and my deep understanding of the community’s needs, my leadership, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making skills; combined with my integrity, make me the right choice to continue serving you as your District 4 Supervisor.
